People sometimes think she’s a real doctor, but she’s not. Noxolo Monama plays a doctor on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy. She plays Dr Sphe Cele, the daughter of tycoon Jack Mabaso. Noxolo said she sometimes struggles to remember medical terms.
The challenge about portraying a doctor is pronouncing medical terms. But luckily, I don’t use a lot of them,” she said.
When asked what she’d be doing if she wasn’t an actress, Noxolo told Daily Sun she would’ve been an interior designer. She said theatre inspired her to go into the performing arts. Noxolo said people in her community still found it odd that someone from TV lived among them.
The actress, who’s from Emalahleni but grew up in Ekurhuleni, said the storyline where Sphe is on the run with a bag containing top-secret information and money was fun.
“It was unlike all the times when Sphe was on the wrong side of the law but had the protection of either her dad Jack or Kumkani. This time she was at the wrong place at the wrong time and has to find a way out.
