Update: Serious trouble for mom in viral video beating up teacher because her kids were late for school

The 43-year-old parent who was caught on video attacking a teacher for turning away her two kids has been charged with assault. Captain Adele Myburgh said she was charged and warned to appear in court on Thursday.
The video went viral on social media, with many people calling for the mum’s arrest.
In the video, shot last Monday at a primary school in Tsetse Village outside Mahikeng in North West, the angry parent is heard accusing the teacher of targeting her kids before pushing her down. She then assaults her while insulting her.
Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela condemned the incident.
Spokesman Elias Malindi said the mother has two kids at the school – one in grade 4 the other in grade R.
“The parent allegedly complained that the teacher turned back her children for coming late,” said Malindi.
“The department found the two pupils never arrived at school. Their names didn’t appear on the register on the day. On behalf of the department, I condemn the alleged incident.”
He said they were worried by the parent’s actions.
Matsemela said teachers were a beacon of hope and should be treated as such for the role they played in educating society.
“They should be treated as a scarce commodity that needs to be protected by society,” she said.
Malindi said the department had sent psychologists to counsel both teachers and pupils at the school.
