The Basic Education Department says it will only eradicate open pit toilets by 2031. The department told the High court in Limpopo this is due to budget constraints. But, Section 27 is challenging this, saying the department must do better.
The lobby group is representing the family of 5-year-old Micheal Komape, who drowned in a pit latrine at his school in 2014.
