COVID-19: Pfizer and J&J booster shots available now

Pfizer and J&J booster vaccines are now available to the public.

People are eligible for the Pfizer booster six months after their second dose and the J&J booster can be taken two months after the first vaccine.

Deputy Health Minister Sibongiseni Dhlomo says his department will continue taking advice from scientists.

“We are also continuing listening to the scientists as they advise us with regards to this matter. The best thing about COVID-19 is that we are learning every day,” Dhlomo said.

“You’d recall that we said the high-risk group of South Africans are those who got the vaccine first but also who are looking after our patients so we started with the booster for them. Now we are calling on all South Africans that it’s available.”
