The facelifted Audi A4 was revealed in 2019, bringing with it a comprehensive set of cosmetic and technical changes. Earlier this year, Audi South Africa confirmed that three 2,0-litre four-cylinder derivatives, two turbopetrol and one turbodiesel, will be sold alongside the twin-scroll turbocharged 3,0-litre V6 S4. Three of these four models are now available here.
New to this range are the Standard and Advanced trim levels which offer different cosmetic options below the S-Line guise.
The entry-level model, badged as the 35 TFSI, sports the turbocharged four-pot mill tuned to develop 110 kW and 270 N.m of torque and is available in Standard and Advanced trim at asking prices of R644 000 and R663 000, respectively. Fitted to this variant are low beam, high beam and daytime running lights using LED technology.
The 40 TFSI sports punchier 140 kW and 320 N.m outputs and is available in Standard (R681 500), Advanced (R700 500) and S-Line (R726 500) guises. This model will feature the more advanced LED headlamp cluster and dynamic indicators at the rear. The adaptive Matrix LED setup is optional across the range.
Both of these engines come standard with Audi’s S-Tronic transmission and a mild-hybrid 12-volt battery system.
The flagship S4, boasting the unchanged 3,0T FSI mill with a 260 kW and 500 N.m output enters at R944 500.
The new range will provide more distinctive levels of specification as a means to avoid an overwhelming complex, option box-ticking ordering process. These packages have been defined by a combination of customer preferences as well as strategic options and comprise Comfort, Technology, Sport and Assistance packages. A Lights package for the 35 TFSI is available as well.
The turbodiesel-powered derivative will arrive in SA in the first quarter of next year. As standard, all models ship with Audi’s five-year/100 000 km Freeway plan.
