Atandwa Kani bags big Nelson Mandela role. The new play features music by Greg Dean Borowsky and Shaun Borowsky and sees Atandwa as well as a few other South African faces on the roster. The likes of Emmanuel Castis, Ntomb’khona Dlamini and Phindi Mkhizwe-Wilson all join the Black Panther star on the cast.

South African actor and self-acclaimed “Prince of Theatre”, Atandwa Kani, has just landed one of the most important theatre roles of his career. The talented actor will be acting in the upcoming American adaptation of Mandela.

Meanwhile, the roles of Nelson and Winnie Mandela will be played by American actors, Earl Darrington and Sasha Allen. John Kani’s son took to Instagram to share his excitement for the upcoming feature:

He also played a young Mandela in the 2013 film, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
