Purpose of role

Assisting with the growth, development and overall well-being of children in the infant class as well as assisting with cleaning the school.

Responsibilities

Assistant infant teacher duties

Assist infant teacher with all caring and educational responsibilities for children while at school, including nappy-changing, feeding and educational activities.
Promote feelings of security and trust in children through maintaining a safe and caring environment.
Become familiar with each child’s schedule, and be comfortable with multiple infant feeding and sleeping routines.
Participate in professional development sessions with colleagues.
Reflect on your work regularly, leading your personal growth strategy.
Other responsibilities as necessary.
Cleaning duties

Assist cook-cleaner with the overall hygiene and cleanliness of the school in line with health and safety regulations
Assist cook-cleaner to clean all areas of the school on a daily basis
Ensure that the toys and classrooms are sanitized on a regular basis
Note: this is a physically challenging role and requires the teacher to stand for large portions of the day, carry babies and toddlers, bend, run, sit on the floor, participate in playground activities, and generally play with the children.
