23-year-old Gugulethu Tony Ngoma was convicted of fraud and sentenced to six years imprisonment for faking a payslip.
Captain Matimba Maluleke, Hawks spokesperson said Ngoma bought a vehicle worth R300 000 at a vehicle dealership in Polokwane on 3rd April 2019, using what the Hawks say was a bogus payslip and bank statement to purchase the car.
He said the accused was traced and arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team at Kwaggafontein Court in Mpumalanga where he was appearing for another case.
Maluleke said the fraudulently bought car has already been recovered.
Ngoma has been sentenced to six years imprisonment of which two years imprisonment is wholly suspended for five years, on condition that he is not found guilty of fraud and theft during a period of the suspension.

In Other News – Motorcyclist escapes serious injuries after back tyre bursts
At 17H08 Saturday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the N1 between Lynnwood and the N4 interchange in Pretoria.
Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male motorcyclist sustained minor injuries when the back tyre of his motorcycle burst resulting in a crash and subsequent fire.
The patient was assessed on scene however declined ambulance transportation to the hospital.
