ANC yet to make a decision on embattled eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede

While KwaZulu-Natal’s only metro is buckling under leadership instability, eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede’s leave of absence might be extended.
Despite placing Gumede on a 30-day leave of absence, the ANC says it hasn’t finalised her matter – just yet. She’s due to report to work on Wednesday.
According to ANC KZN spokesperson Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu the Provincial Executive Committee will make a final decision on whether Gumede comes back or not.
“What the team is investigating, the bail conditions, how they affect the operations that comrade Zandile has to undertake as a Mayor and as soon as that has been presented to the Provincial Working Committee, it will have to then go to the Provincial Executive Committee for a decision on whether she comes back or not.”
Gumede’s facing fraud and corruption charges and is out on R50,000 bail and is due back in court on 8 August.
