ANC responds to DA’s Alexandra accusations

The ANC in Gauteng has accused the DA of cherry-picking issues on which to blame the ANC on.

The DA’s Gauteng premier candidate Solly Msimanga has laid a criminal charge against the ANC, accusing the party of being behind the violent protest in Alexandra last past week.

However, the ANC is denying claims that it’s behind the violent protests in the area.

Alexandra residents have threatened to take their protest to Sandton on Monday.

This comes after Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba failed to attend a meeting organised by disgruntled residents.

Gauteng ANC chairperson Panyaza Lesufi said the reason the DA is blaming the ANC is that their election campaign in the province is dying.

“The community is raising issues that have nothing to do with the ANC, the reality is people are asking why rubbish isn’t being collected,” Lesufi said.

“People are asking why sewage is flowing freely. People are asking why people are building informal settlements in areas that are dangerous.

“All those issues are issues of local government.
