Residents of Alexandra have vowed to bring the area to a standstill on Wednesday.
They’re expected to protest over service delivery issues and the City of Johannesburg’s failure to stop the mushrooming of illegal structures in the area.
Residents claim that foreigners are occupying shacks which have been erected illegally.
Police are monitoring the roads leading into the township.
Residents are blocking some of the roads with burning tyres.
Social media users are reporting that the Gautrain entrance to the Marlboro station has been closed.
