An excellent opportunity exists for a Senior Accountant at a well-established firm of committed chartered accountants and registered auditors. The firm is seeking to permanently employ a Senior Accountant with a minimum of 6 years’ experience within the accounting and/or SAIPA articles filed.
The firm is looking for a self-confident individual who likes to work as part of a team but is also willing to take initiative and capable of working independently.
The firm operates within a large variety of industries, ranging from auditing, independent reviews, financial management and accounting, tax administration and planning, business and transactional consulting, secretarial services, wills, estate planning and administration.
Job Overview
Assisting the manager in organizing, planning and implementing strategy.
Coordinating operations.
Ensuring schedules and objectives are met.
Responsibilities and duties
Assisting the Senior Manager as needed, but not limited to:
Gather information on assigned clients (e.g. company size, needs and pricing plans).
Contact clients to understand their requirements and work on a sales plan.
Provide after-sales support to retain customers.
Ensure prompt and accurate answers to clients’ queries.
Build strong client relationships, through regular communication.
Report on the status of accounts.
Suggest company products/services that maximize client satisfaction.
Communicate product and pricing details clearly.
Promote new products/services to existing customers.
Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Management of SAIPA clerks and the SAIPA review process.
Review work of juniors.
Coaching junior personnel.
Writing up of more complex accounting records of clients on Pastel/Sage one Accounting.
Qualification and Experience requirements
B Com Accounting or equivalent degree.
SAICA / SAIPA member registration.
Minimum of 6 years’ experience within the accounting and/or SAIPA articles field.
WIP Management.
Debtors Management.
Strong knowledge of accounting and accounting concepts.
Ability to meet with client and sell work to be done.
Knowledge of the Caseware AFS drafting package and working paper related to compilations of financial statements.
Presentable and well spoken.
Is fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
A meticulous and detailed person.
Computer literature in Pastel, Sage one Accounting, Xero, VIP Payroll, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office and SARS e-filling.
Technical ability (IFRS, Companies Act, International Standards of Auditing, Tax).
VAT Returns, PAYE Returns, Income tax and Provisional.
Must be able to work under pressure.
Must be self-motivated.
Must be able to lead a team.
Able to take own initiative and think out of the box.
Traveling to clients will be expected.
Overtime will be required from time to time to meet client deadlines.
Salary – R25k to R35k pm ctc, negotiable depending on experience.
