The High Court in Pretoria has declared the Aarto amendment Act unconstitutional and invalid.
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse brought the case, pointing out among other things that the system is administratively complicated and relies on chaotic municipal systems.
The Transport Department implemented phase one of the system in July 2021.
The act outlines that drivers can be penalized for speeding, ignoring road signs, and running red lights.
Judge Annali Basson declared the entire Act and its amendments invalid.
