IEC holds final voter registration weekend ahead of 2024 elections

If you haven’t registered to vote yet, this weekend is your final chance.

The IEC is holding it’s second voter registration weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

It’s set up over 23,000 registration centres across the country.

Over 69,000 people have been employed to facilitate the process.

IEC spokesperson Kate Bapela said voting stations will open at 8 am and close at 5 pm.

“From the past voter registration weekend we did brilliantly well,” she said.

“We tipped the three million scales in terms of the people checking their details, ensuring that they’ve moved to the correct addresses.

“What we picked up is that we still have to push new registrations.”

She encouraged the public to register at the correct voting station and also for first-time voters to come out in their numbers.
