140 buses deployed in Harare

Government has deployed more than 140 buses in the Capital Harare to ferry passengers at stipulated prices after commuter omnibuses signaled that they will not be reducing prices to gazzetted ones because of the increase in fuel price.

Government was left with no choice but to engage Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) to service the routes.

ZUPCO in turn also engaged private players to assist in the overwhelming task

Announcing on Monday Government said, “We have mobilised more than 140 buses to ferry passengers in and around Harare. Commuters from Chitungwiza and Norton will pay $1.50 and $2 per trip, respectively. Commuters from other parts of the city will pay $1 per trip.”
