A new robotics and coding centre has been launched to teach young people digital skills.
The Gauteng Education Department teamed up with technology firm Honeywell to launch Futureshaper Lab at St Barnabas School of Specialisation.
The lab will help learners develop their digital skills and inspire logical and critical thinking.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyanza Lesufi says investing in technical skills will ensure better job opportunities for learners in future.
“The labour market is looking for these skills, education will be meaningless if you produce people that cannot be absorbed by the labour market,” Lesufi said.
“Our desire is to ensure our children don’t look for jobs but jobs look for our children and if you can have that balance, we can get it right.”
