She could not live with the fact that her son had died. So the woman, from the USA, allegedly kept the remains of her newborn baby in a freezer storage for nearly 30 years. She has been charged with the abuse of a corpse.
According to Daily Mail, the 62-year-old gogo from Tullahoma was arrested last Friday, 10 December, and charged with two counts of abuse of a corpse.
Coffee County district attorney Craig Northcott said the gruesome discovery was made in November after the freezer was auctioned off, and unidentified remains were found inside.
“Upon inspection of the remains, it was not readily apparent if they were human. Upon sending the remains to the medical examiner’s office, they determined that the remains were that of a human newborn,” Northcott said in a statement.
The circumstances leading to the newborn’s death are yet to be revealed.
It is alleged that the woman, then in her mid-30s, delivered the child at home just a few days before renting the storage unit.
Northcott said the woman could face additional charges as the investigation continues. She is expected to appear before a judge in Coffee County soon.
