Ipid investigating after woman is killed in Lamontville

Police watchdog IPID is investigating the Lamontville woman’s death.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says the community is not willing to come forward with information.

“The Ipid is investigating the matter of the death, they haven’t come back with the full results on that one,” he said.

“The issue that they are raising is that the community is not coming forward with the information that they have. That is the call I made to the community to say, they must help us, bring the statements, be able to give whatever information that they have so that it can continue with the Ipid to investigate and find out what happened.”

The body of the 33-year-old woman was found during a police raid for looted goods last week.

It is still not clear if the bullet that killed her was from police or a resident.
