A man who was down on his luck after his girlfriend broke up with him couldn’t believe how his fortunes changed when he won R60 million – He won the massive amount in Friday’s PowerBall draw, making him an instant millionaire – He doesn’t plan on quitting his job and will invest most of the winnings as he works in the financial sector.

Everyone dreams of winning the lottery and for one lucky South African man that happened on Friday when he won a whopping R60 million in the PowerBall draw.

What makes the story more interesting is that his ex-girlfriend had broken up with him shortly before the massive win. According to TimesLive the lucky man is in his 30s and works as a financial professional. He was astonished to have won, saying that the most he’d ever won before was R500.

We are pretty sure his ex is as surprised as he is. He revealed that his live-in girlfriend had ended their relationship and he was not in the best of moods. He was spending the weekend alone as she had already moved out when he checked the PowerBall results. The shock of winning was so great that the took a cold shower and checked the results again, no willing to believe it was real.

He plans on investing most of his winnings, with his expertise in the financial sector it would be quite easy for him. He doesn’t plan on resigning as he believes that his company will start retrenching employees soon and he plans and cashing in on a retrenchment package. He also plans on donating part of the winnings to those in need. The man’s identity has not been released.
