SRC to share outcomes after meeting with Wits University management
Wits University management has met with the SRC in a bid to resolve the impasse that has brought studies to a halt.
The SRC says it will provide an update during a mass meeting on Sunday night.
Students have been protesting over fees, accommodation, and outstanding debt.
Wits SRC member Solami Buthelezi said, “we are still in a very promising negotiating environment with Wits University, but I will say that it took a lot to get to this point, and so to get to a table with the senior executive team is a victory on its own.”
“You will understand that we’ve had countless failed attempts to have engagements with the institution, and today’s sitting was definitely a step in the right direction.”
“We do note though that the vice chancellor who we had personally requested his presence be there was not there but he did send a delegation from the senior executive team so we appreciate that.”
