Winner of R232m Powerball finally claims his price

Winner of R232m Powerball finally claims his price. The winner of the record R232 million PowerBall jackpot has come forward to claim their prize.

The man’s life has been transformed after becoming the luckiest gambler in the lottery’s SA history.

Last Tuesday, one man took it all after buying a ticket at an OK minimart in Goodwood, Cape Town, manually selecting his numbers. He spent just R22.50.

Lottery operator Ithuba said he claimed his prize on Monday and would be flown to Johannesburg to have the claim processed.

Ithuba’s corporate relations executive Khensani Mabuza said the winner became the richest national lottery jackpot winner in South Africa, taking the title from the 34-year-old R145 million jackpot winner, who had claimed their prize in August 2018.

The jackpot had rolled over 23 times before being won.

There will be another draw tonight, with the PowerBall jackpot at about R4 million and the PowerBall Plus jackpot around R39 million.
