Wet and windy conditions are expected to continue throughout the long weekend in the Western Cape region, with three more cold fronts on the way.

South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said one of four cold fronts had already made landfall in Cape Town.

“Cold weather is expected from today [Friday], with a minimum in Cape Town today being eleven and the maximum expected to reach 14.

“We also have warnings, especially for south-western parts of the country, with damaging winds and rain expected between Alexander Bay all the way to Plettenberg Bay.”

Thobela said the rainy conditions would continue along the West Coast, where flooding has already been seen earlier this week near Malmesbury.

“We also have disruptive rain expected along the West Coast of the Western Cape province, also covering areas around the City of Cape Town all the way to the north-western parts of the West Coast for today.”

Thobela said the stormy weather is set to continue until Sunday.
