Western Cape premier calls on Capetonians to be counted

The Statistician-General has given the people of the Western Cape province a further two weeks to come to their senses and be counted.

This is because the province has the lowest number of people that have participated in the Census 2022.

Western Cape premier Alan Winde is appealing to Capetonians to fill in their forms, as an under-count of people will negatively impact budget allocations from National Treasury.

To date, 58 percent of households in the Western Cape have been counted

The national average is 84 percent.

To get the numbers up in the province, about 2,000 field workers from across the country have been brought in to assist.
