West Ham secure signing of Fulham defender

West Ham United have this evening announced the signing of defender Ryan Fredericks from Fulham. Fredericks, a 25-year-old right-back, come up through the youth ranks at Tottenham, before being sent on numerous loan spells by the capital giants between 2012 and 2015.

However, it quickly became clear that Spurs did not see a future for the blistering stopper at White Hart Lane, resulting in Fredericks making the first permanent transfer of his career to Bristol City in the summer of 2015.

Rather bizarrely, though, he went on to make just 3 Championship appearances for Bristol City, before moving on to Fulham, just 26 days after arriving at Ashton Gate.

The former English youth international cited personal reasons for his departure, and since went on to cement himself as a permanent fixture in the backline of the Cottagers over the last 3 seasons.

Fredericks played a crucial role in Fulham’s impressive charge to promotion back to the Premier League this past season, with the performances of the dynamic full-back having piqued the interest of a number of top-flight clubs.

The likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Crystal Palace were previously touted as potential destinations for Fredericks, but, as per the aforementioned announcement this evening, West Ham United have beaten off stiff competition to secure a deal for the highly-regarded defender:
