Watford 1-2 Chelsea

Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic both scored as Chelsea beat bottom club Watford to move into third in the Premier League.

Abraham struck in the fourth minute when he lifted his effort past goalkeeper Ben Foster before Pulisic followed up last week’s hat-trick against Burnley with a tap-in.

Foster was kept busy at Vicarage Road, pushing Mason Mount’s effort on to the woodwork before producing another great stop to deny the England midfielder. He also made a brilliant save to keep out Pulisic’s header and angled shot.

Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu pulled a goal back from the spot with 10 minutes remaining after VAR ruled he had been fouled in the box by Jorginho.

Deulofeu also went close in the first half when his strike missed Kepa Arrizabalaga’s left-hand upright by a few inches while Watford goalkeeper Foster was only denied a last-gasp equaliser as his opposite number dived to claw away his header in the final action of the match.
