Power cuts affect water supply

High stages of rolling blackouts are affecting water supply.

Rand Water is being hit hard with the latest incident impacting reservoirs in Ekurhuleni.

South Africans are in the grips of indefinite stage 6 blackouts.

As that kicked in on Saturday, Rand Water’s Mapleton Booster Pumping Station experienced a power failure.

Eskom attended to the problem, but Rand Water says it will take up to five days to fully restore supply.

Some residents in the eastern parts of Tshwane also still don’t have water on Sunday morning.

Rand Water says repairs to the Zuikerbosch Plant caused delays before pumping got back to full capacity.

The water shortages come after power was restored to areas affected by collapsed power pylons.
