Big blow for fans as actor Vusi Kunene (Funani Zwide) leaves ‘House of Zwide’

What a blow! House of Zwide viewers are saddened by the departure of leading actor Vusi Kunene who portrays fashion designer, Funani Zwide.

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald confirms that actor Vusi Kunene has officially left House of Zwide.

“Vusi Kunene is leaving House of Zwide. The award-winning actor has already wrapped up shooting for the new season and will be off screen mid-July,” says Mcdonald.

TVSA House of Zwide July teasers report that Funani Zwide will step down as CEO after Nandipha’s (KB Motsilanyane) death.

Wednesday 17 July: “Funani returns to HoZ but fails to find his passion. He subsequently walks out on a client and later admits to his sangoma that he feels lost and is in a bad space.”

Thursday 18 July 2024: “Funani decides to follow his heart and makes the startling announcement that he is leaving HoZ and going back to KZN.”

House of Zwide has been renewed for a fourth season following increased viewership. The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) May and June figures reveal that the telenovela is the most-watched show on e.tv with over 4 million viewers.

Season three of ends on Friday, 12 July while season four begins on Monday, 15 July.
