Voices of DA voters will now be heard, says John Steenhuisen

The Democratic Alliance (DA) boasted that it will be bringing a record of good leadership, to its co-governing agreement with the African National Congress.

On Friday night both parties entered into an arrangement that saw the DA support the ANC’s candidates for president and speaker of Parliament.

In exchange, the ANC supported the DA’s candidate for deputy speaker.

The partnership also extended to the hung provinces of Kwazulu-Natal and Gauteng.

DA Leader, John Steenhuisen said that parties in the Government of National Unity share fundamental values that are contained in their respective manifestos.

“In order to give effect to this vision, the Democratic Alliance will now step up to contribute our unique track record of good, clean, and accountable governance to the national project. In terms of the agreement, the DA will assume various leadership roles in the national cabinet, the National Assembly, the National Council of Provinces, and on Parliamentary Portfolio Committees, broadly in proportion to our share of seats within the GNU. This arrangement ensures that the voices of DA voters will now be heard in all.”
