Thabo Bester expected to make virtual court appearance
Murderer and rapist Thabo Bester is expected to appear virtually in a Mangaung court on Friday morning.
He is being held at the Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria after escaping from a privately-run prison last year.
A burnt body was found in his prison cell, but it wasn’t his.
He and his girlfriend, Nandipha Magudamana, were believed to be living the high life in Johannesburg.
But when news of the faked death broke, the pair fled the country.
They made it as far as Tanzania, where they were arrested trying to cross into Kenya.
Bester’s appearance comes a day after Magudumana appeared in the same court flanked by heavily-armed police.
She faces charges of murder, fraud, aiding and abetting, violation of a dead body, and defeating the ends of justice.
