VBS looting suspect granted bail

A 59-year-old former official in Mahikeng Local Municipality has been granted R50,000 bail.

This is in connection to charges relating to the VBS Mutual Bank looting.

Thabo Mokwena, a former municipal manager and accounting officer at the municipality, made his first appearance in the Mahikeng Regional Court on Wednesday.

He has been remanded in custody until his bail is paid.

Mokwena’s facing charges for corruption and contravening the municipal finance management act.
