The World Health Organization (WHO) is concerned by the shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in poorer countries.
Several countries receiving vaccines through a global sharing scheme don’t have enough doses to continue their rollout.
The WHO says low-income countries can’t rely on vaccine-producing countries for supply.
The organization’s Regional Office for Africa Programme Coordinator Richard Mihigo said: “We have reached a crisis situation. The situation has not improved at all.”
Mihigo said the announcement of the establishment of the vaccine technology transfer hub is encouraging news.
