SA COVID-19: Western Cape aims to increase vaccination rate

The Western Cape Health Department says it wants to increase its COVID-19 vaccination rate.

The province has vaccinated 1.4 million people with at least one jab.

It also has the second-highest number of COVID-19 infections in the country, with just over 442,000 infections.

Both public and private hospitals are filling up fast as infections continue peaking.

“We are looking forward to up our target,” said Nomafrench Mbombo, Western Cape Health MEC.

“But now that we have confirmation of having more doses, 200,000 a week which is our target coming from 130,000 target… we will be able to achieve as such.”
