South African reality TV star and musician Londie London has opened up about the deeply personal experience that led her to walk away from acting, revealing that an uncomfortable on-set moment ultimately pushed her to prioritize her well-being over her career in film.
Speaking candidly on the Read The Room podcast, which is part of the Podcast and Chill Network, Londie shared her story alongside hosts Shamiso Mosaka and Phil Mphela. During the discussion, she reflected on her brief foray into acting and why she ultimately decided it was not the right path for her.
Londie London, who rose to fame through her music and later gained widespread recognition on The Real Housewives of Durban, explained that her transition into acting came without formal preparation. According to her, the lack of professional training or guidance made certain scenes particularly difficult to navigate.
Lack of Training Left Londie London Feeling Unprepared
She admitted that stepping onto a film set without prior acting experience left her feeling vulnerable and unsure of what to expect. Unlike seasoned actors who often undergo training or rehearsals for complex scenes, Londie said she was not given the tools or coaching necessary to handle emotionally or physically demanding moments.
“First of all, I am not a trained actress, and there was no trainer to prepare us for these types of scenes, so nobody told me what to expect,” she shared during the podcast.
The situation became especially challenging when she was required to film an intimate scene with a male co-star. Londie described the experience as overwhelming, noting that she felt unprepared for the level of physical closeness involved. Wearing lingerie for the scene, she found herself in a situation that quickly became uncomfortable and confusing.
The star recounted how the intensity of the moment, combined with her inexperience, left her unsure of how to react or process what was happening. For her, the lack of clear boundaries and professional guidance on set made the experience even more distressing.
“I was very confused about what was happening,” she admitted.
That confusion soon turned into a firm decision. Londie London revealed that the incident had a lasting impact on her, ultimately leading her to step away from acting altogether. She emphasized that her mental and emotional well-being took priority over continuing in an environment where she felt uneasy.
“I swore to myself that I would never take up acting again. I had a horrible experience when filming that hot scene with this man,” she said.
Despite the discomfort she experienced, Londie briefly touched on her co-star, describing him as attractive but not someone she would consider romantically. She explained that their age difference played a role in how she perceived him, making it impossible for her to view the situation beyond a professional context.
“He was actually very hot. We would have become more than that, but he was way younger than me. If I am older than a guy, maybe by two or even three years, then he is just a boy to me,” she added.
Her story sheds light on a broader issue within the entertainment industry—particularly for newcomers who may find themselves in demanding situations without adequate preparation or support. Londie’s experience highlights the importance of proper training, clear communication, and the presence of intimacy coordinators on set, especially when filming sensitive scenes.
While acting may no longer be part of her journey, Londie London continues to thrive in other areas of her career, including music and entrepreneurship. Her openness about her experience has sparked conversations about the realities of the industry and the need for safer, more supportive working environments for performers.
Ultimately, Londie’s decision to walk away from acting underscores the importance of knowing one’s limits and choosing personal comfort and dignity above all else.
