Using Adobe Illustrator for laser cutting

Start Using Adobe Illustrator for Laser Cutting

Adobe Illustrator is not only good at designing logos, but it also works best for laser cutting. You can integrate your laser cutting machine, like Nova 24 or Nova 63, with a desktop to laser-cut your desired design.

Why Using Adobe Illustrator for Laser Cutting is a Good Idea?

Adobe Illustrator is vector-based software that is laser-cutting friendly. This program offers a lot of shortcuts and tools that make your illustrator file more efficient for laser cutting. Adobe Illustrator also offers custom contour cuts, and multi-layer laser cut designs for an easier process.

If you want to create inlay designs, then illustrator is an ideal option for you. Many manufacturers use Adobe Illustrator because of its ability to offer 3D graphics.

It is best to create your complex design in Illustrator, then export them to Lightburn. Doing your designs in LightBurn doesn’t offer features that result in highly creative designs because this software is made to support the machine, rather than creating designs. Note RDWorks program is old so all our laser machines are supported with Lightburn which is from USA and has upgraded features that meet modern requirements.

How to get started with Adobe Illustrator for Laser Cutting?

You need to create your design before you do anything. Adobe Illustrator has many tools that you can start using as a beginner, such as shape tools. Once you create your designs, you need to use the fill and stroke tool to avoid etching or burning the surface of the material. Once you finalize everything, send the file over to LightBurn. Once you get your design in LightBurn you need to adjust the engraving & cut settings like speed and power according to the material you want to use. If you think you might have made a mistake while adjusting the settings, you can test it by laser cutting one design. After this, you can begin laser cutting. When you are happy with your settings, save them in the library for when you need the correct settings again.
