Body found floating in the Umzimkhulu River has been identified
The woman whose body was found floating in the river has been identified. She has been identified as Zanele Masikane from Swayimane near Pietermaritzburg.
The 31-year-old woman’s body was found floating in the Umzimkhulu River in Port Shepstone on 16 June.
She was apparently found with her right leg amputated, but no other injuries on her body.
She was wearing beads in her arms, which made people believe that she was a sangoma.
Residents who live near the river didn’t know who she was. They assumed she was killed somewhere else and her body was then dumped in the river.
Daily Sun contacted Zanele’s uncle, who only gave his surname as Masikane. He confirmed that the body found in the river was that of her niece.
KZN cops spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the woman had been identified.
