Two people dead in Tshwane flooding

Residents across various parts of Pretoria are counting the costs following deadly flooding. At least two people have been confirmed dead in the city.

Torrential rains have lashed Gauteng for days, sweeping away shacks in informal settlements. Authorities have been assessing the impact of the floods.

“Most of the people who are affected live in shacks but there are also secondary problems arising, like sinkholes,” said Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. Many victims were shell-shocked, but still optimistic that they’ll be able to resume their normal lives once the waters subside.
