Two men shot dead on highway in Umlazi

Two men have been shot dead in an incident that occurred on the Mangosuthu Highway in Umlazi, south of Durban. It is believed that the two men were seated in a vehicle when they sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Advance Life Support Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the victims were declared dead on the scene.
This morning, Mangosuthu Highway was closed where the shooting took place to allow the police to investigate the crime scene. Motorists using this route have been urged to use alternative routes.
Paramedics arrived on scene and found that two males believed to be in their twenties had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies while seated in the vehicle at a stop street. Paramedics assessed the men and found that, unfortunately, they both sustained fatal injuries. They were declared deceased at the scene. SAPS closed the entire Mangosuthu Highway off to allow investigators to investigate what led up to the incident. At this stage, the events leading up to this incident are not clear. However, SAPS will be investigating further.
