Two dead, three seriously injured in head-on collision

KwaZulu-Natal: At 22H41 Saturday night, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the R61, Rennies Beach in Port Edward.
Reports indicate that a mini-bus taxi and a car were involved in a head-on collision. Medics assessed the scene and found one person, an adult male, dead on arrival.
Three other patients, also adult males were found to have sustained serious injuries and required advanced life support intervention to stabilise them.
An adult female, who was freed from the wreckage using hydraulic tools, was found to have sustained critical injuries and was treated on scene by an emergency care practitioner.
Once stabilised, the woman was airlifted by Netcare 911 helicopter to a hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.
The three seriously injured patients were transported to a local hospital for the care they required. Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
