Two dead, three missing after KZN floods

Two people have been confirmed dead and three others are still missing after heavy rains in parts of KZN.

It’s also left dozens of families stranded.

Cogta spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says disaster teams and officials are assessing the damage.

KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube said the situation in the town is very bad.

Two people dead

A temporarily constructed bridge has collapsed and caused rubble to block stormwater drains, preventing drainage of the rainwater.

Dube-Ncube stated engineers would have to provide more information on the way forward for the community.

eThekwini Municipality City Manager Sipho Nzuza said the people from the municipality would be coming with machinery to assess the damage and see what can be done.
