Two children killed, multiple injured in R103 taxi vs truck collision

KwaZulu-Natal: At 14H44 Friday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the R103 near the Midlands Garden Centre in Indlovu, Pietermaritzburg.

Reports indicate that a mini-bus taxi being used as scholar transport and a truck were involved in a collision. Medics assessed the scene and found that multiple children had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Sadly, two 9-year-old boys had sustained fatal injuries and were tragically declared deceased on the scene. All the injured patients were treated on scene and once stabilised were transported by various private and government ambulances to hospital for further care.

A man from Klawer in the Western Cape accused of killing 13-year-old Jerobiojin van Wyk on Monday abandoned his bid to be released on bail.

Daniel Smit, 56, made his first court appearance at the Klawer Magistrate’s Court following his arrest last Friday for the alleged kidnap and murder of the teenage boy.
