Tshwane city manager reprimands municipal workers who celebrated Cilliers Brink’s ousting

Tshwane city manager, Johan Mettler, has reprimanded municipal workers who were seen celebrating the ousting of former mayor Cilliers Brink.

Brink lost his job last Thursday when a motion of no confidence against him was passed.

Mettler penned a letter to the employees saying that the way Brink was hounded out of the municipal building was unacceptable.

Brink left the council chambers shortly after the motion of no confidence was passed and was accosted by a crowd that was singing and dancing.

Mettler said the group included the metro’s employees.

He slammed their conduct, calling it humiliating, offensive and despicable.

Mettler said that while employees had a right to associate with a political party, such conduct could not happen within the workplace.

He warned workers that there would be consequence management if such behaviour was repeated.
