Jozi FM presenter Tshepo Junior Makgopa back in court

Jozi FM presenter Tshepo Junior Makgopa will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court in Soweto on Wednesday, 17 July.

He briefly appeared in court on Friday, 28 June and the matter was postponed for further investigation and to await a review from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The prosecutor said the matter is still under investigation and they’ll have to continue with it in July.

Tshepo is accused of assaulting his wife’s friend, Rose Buthelezi. Rose alleged that Tshepo assaulted her on Saturday, 27 January while returning from an outing with his wife, Tshego.

According to Rose, the presenter and his wife usually have an annual outing with her and her partner, Prince.

She mentioned that a fight started at the venue while they were out, forcing them to leave. On their way back home, Tshepo and Tshego started arguing.

Rose claimed that when they arrived at their home, Tshepo came out of the car and began hitting Tshego, prompting Rose to intervene. She reportedly sustained bruises on her hand and head from the attack.

“My head was injured and it’s still painful. My left arm was bruised, and I experienced chest pain because I struggled to breathe. I still have bruises.

“We haven’t spoken to him since the incident because he’s nowhere to be found. We spoke to his wife, and she offered to pay for a doctor so I could get some painkillers, but I declined her offer,” Rose said.
