Watch:Tshegofatso Pule’s uncle broken, regrets defending woman-killer: “I now know”

Defence attorney Tumisang Katake is the uncle of the late Tshegofatso Pule.
News365 earlier reported that Tshegofatso Pule had been laid to rest on Thursday and people across the country mourned her death. The young lady was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed and hung from a tree. Her body was found on Monday and news of her brutal death has sent shockwaves through Mzansi.
Pule’s uncle, Tumisang Katake, has vowed never to defend men who harm women or children ever again. Katake, who works as a defence attorney, previously represented convicted murderer Sandile Mantsoe. Mantsoe was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend Karabo Mokoena two years ago. Speaking at Pule’s funeral on Thursday, Katake said, “Tshego is Karabo Mokoena today. I now know how it feels. I now know what the family of Karabo went through.”

Although Katake fulfilled his work requirements at the time, he pledged never to assist those who prey on innocent women and children again. Katake added, “From this day on, if you come to me and say you have raped, go to hell. You come to me and say you have killed your girlfriend, go to hell. You come to me and say you have molested a child, I don’t care, go to hell.”
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi spoke at her funeral, condemning gender-based violence as an act of cowardliness.

The former EFF spokesperson slammed men who killed women and demanded that it come to an end. Some South Africans welcomed Ndlozi’s speech, but others felt the EFF used the moment as a publicity stunt.
