The country’s ports may be brought to a standstill on Monday, putting further strain on the economy.
This is as Transnet workers reject a revised wage offer. The state-owned logistics firm upped its offer from 1.5 to 3 percent.
But unions, Satawu and Untu say it’s not even close to the 13.5 percent demanded, calling it an insult.
Satawu says it will issue a 48-hour strike notice to the company. At the same time, it’s asked the CCMA to intervene. That process will begin on Wednesday.
