State accused of dragging its feet on Transnet fraud case

Defense lawyers in the Transnet locomotive train wreck saga have accused the state of bowing to public pressure to prosecute their clients.
Brian Molefe, Anoj Singh, Siyabonga Gama, and several others appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Friday.
They are implicated in a dodgy advisory tender, which led to a locomotive deal for 1,064 locomotives.
The tender was awarded to a McKinsey-led consortium in 2012.
Regiments Capital was irregularly onboarded and benefitted from the irregular appointment.
The accused also face charges linked to more than R90m paid to Trillian Asset Management in 2015.
