Satawu calls for more Transnet arrests

Trade Union Satawu says Transnet board members should be in the dock with the company’s former group CEO Siyabonga Gama.

Gama was arrested with four other people, including executives from Trillian and Regiments Capital.

The union represents more than 40,000 of Transnet’s workforce.

Satawu General Secretary Jack Mazibuko says Transnet’s board failed to carry out its mandate and should be held accountable for the paralysis and mismanagement at the freight and logistics utility.

Mazibuko said, “at this point in time we don’t have names but there were board members that were working with Gama. We are waiting for those people to be arrested. Those people should form part of that list.”
