Broke ‘Paris’ hitmaker TpZee speaks out

Paris’ hitmaker TpZee has been making all sorts of headlines after it was revealed that he is struggling to make ends meet after he blew all his money from the hit song on worldly things.

Years after its release, Amapiano hit song ‘Paris’ still plays in almost every nightclub. TpZee and Q-Mark featured Afriikan Papi for the smash hit that thrust them into stardom. No doubt Thapelo Monyela had his shot at fame when they dropped Paris in 2021.

It gained prominence thanks to TikTok, and in 2022 it topped the charts and various dance challenges were done to cap its success.  Despite its success, reports have it that they signed a five-year contract with Could Nine. Of interest is the fact that the record label has a joint venture with Sony Music.

Despite the success of Paris, TpZee has been struggling to make ends meet after failing to invest in his short-lived career. In the wake of his newfound fame, he was one of the most sought-after Amapiano stars, but everything went down the drain. Last year in November, things turned south for the ‘Paris’ hitmaker, and since then, he has been down and out.

The ‘Paris’ hitmaker TpZee has it that they started having fewer gigs than before, and the three of them decided to go solo to make more money, but this was never the case.

In a bid to keep afloat, they opened a joint car wash which never raked a lot of money, and it brought about shame since they ended up washing the cars because some workers dumped them in the eleventh hour.

“We thought going solo would alleviate us splitting the little we were now getting. Still nothing. We opened a car wash that was a flop. Staff would sometimes not come. We washes the cars ourselves, and people would judge us for being one-hit wonders. So, we had to close shop,” said TpZee. Speaking to ZiMoja, the ‘Paris’ hitmaker TpZee revealed that fame swallowed him, and he lost it all.

“I think I got too excited. Fame swallowed me. The lifestyle killed me. We were buying clothes, your Gucci, you name it. You know Piano culture. We were drinking every day, we bought phones, and they would get lost and stolen. I have spent over R700 000 on nothing,” said TpZee.

The ‘Paris’ hitmaker TpZee, has it that much of his money was splurged on worldly things, including the latest cellphones and designer clothes.
