Tornado leaves trail of destruction in Inanda

A devastating tornado has swept through areas north of Durban leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Inanda, in particular, has suffered significant damage to its infrastructure.

There’s been extensive damage to roofs and power cables but the full extent of the devastation is yet to be fully determined.

Authorities say the twister caught them off guard.

Meanwhile, thousands of rail commuters are stranded after Prasa suspended all its services due to heavy rains.

The Weather Service is warning of more heavy rains.
