South African actress, musician, and socialite Khanyi Mbau and social media personality Lasizwe Dambuza recently got together with their close family members to celebrate and unveil their late father Menzi Mcunu’s tombstone.
Menzi Kwame Mkrumah Mcunu passed away in September 2020 at the age of 61. The late taxi boss reportedly succumbed to Covid 19-related illness at the height of the pandemic.
Khanyi Mbau shared the pictures from the elaborate event on her Instagram handle. She was in awe of her father’s tombstone and paid homage to the company that crafted the stone.
Where do I start, I came to you with a need and an extravagant request at the last minute and you came through with your busy schedule assigned a team for that was at my back and call.
Usually, I wouldn’t make such a big deal of anything but guys you are a BIIIIIG DEAL. Thank you for accepting my outlandish ideas for a tombstone and making it a reality. Your team has been kind, available and willing. Thank you for making my dads memory so beautiful. 🙏🏽
Menzi Mcunu’s tombstone was inscribed, “He came into our lives, saw the beauty of life and conquered the world. Rest in peace”.
Lasizwe told a local publication that he chose not to share much about the event on social media because he had not yet healed, and he was still in grief and too emotional on the day.
I was quite emotional as this reminded me I no longer have parents on earth. To this day I struggle to deal [with] and process my parents’ passing. This is one of [my] anxiety triggers. I am so proud of Khanyisile as the first born and head of the family she organised everything and everything came out so well,
