Toddler dies of starvation sitting beside deceased father for two weeks

A two-year-old boy, Bronson Battersby, was found dead from starvation nearly two weeks after his 60-year-old father, Kenneth, succumbed to a heart attack in their Lincolnshire residence in the United Kingdom, Ladbible reported.

The tragic discovery unfolded on January 9, 14 days after the father and son were last seen. The Lincolnshire County Council initiated a rapid review into Bronson’s death, considering him vulnerable and subject to monthly checks by social services.

The shocking incident came to light when social services, concerned about the lack of response from Kenneth during a phone call on December 27, visited their rented home on January 2.

Finding no answer, a social worker returned unannounced and, after obtaining a key from the landlord, discovered the lifeless bodies days later.

Bronson’s mother, Sarah Piesse, revealed that she last saw her son before Christmas after a disagreement with Kenneth. The postmortem examination confirmed Bronson’s cause of death as starvation and dehydration. Piesse expressed her grief, stating: “Bronson starved to death because his dad died.” She added: “I couldn’t pick him up because his body was too fragile. I could only touch him. He had been left there too long.”

Bronson’s sister, Melanie Battersby, paid a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, expressing deep sorrow and emphasising the need to remember his “little smile and soft nature” amid the overwhelming anger.
